Beth Hart is a Los Angeles native and blues-singing singer from rock. She was a street performer and made her debut with Immortal in the year 1995. Her unfiltered, outspoken persona, musicianship, and emotional live shows attracted attention. "Hart is the definition of a woman who is natural," wrote Chuck Taylor in the October 2, 1999 issue of Billboard magazine "bawdy and hilarious, chatty and free-wheeling in her selection of spicy words. However, that's nothing contrasted with her onstage presence which is where the tall and elegant singer/songwriter strides and screams out songs with the vim that is Mick Jagger .... At times, she's taken her seat at the piano or center stage, where she sits without a hint of pretense, her legs resting on the sides of a chair, singing a tune so delicate and pained, you wonder what she's going through and if you will. Hart was subject to similar reactions from when she first took on stage at amateur competitions when she was a teen. But Hart had doubts about the business of music before it was finally successful. Hart lost her band after performing around the world proved be detrimental. Hart was forced to stay out of the public eye for almost four years. Hart spent this time searching for answers, writing music and battling personal issues. After that, determined to give her professional career a chance to shine, she came back in 1999 with the critically-acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper which was a culmination of Hart's songwriting abilities with honest, vulnerable songs about confronting life's struggles.
