Firefly was Whedon's upcoming success and it's safe to say that she had an impact. Summer Glau's character, River Tam, was an intricate character Glau handled with ease. The character of Tam was made to be a part of trials conducted by the government in which she was trained to be an assassin. Tam had difficulty learning to manage her emotions due to. Glau's fighting skills were also shown on Firefly. Glau's fighting skills were developed through her studies to be an Assassin. Summer Glau has been a ballerina from the age of an infant. She's also trained in tango and Flamenco, but her foot injury put an end to her dancing career. Firefly was only on for just one season, however the show garnered a large follower base. Whedon got so passionate about Firefly that he went back a couple years later. However, Summer Glau continued to get some quality work. Her appearances on TV shows were as diverse like Cold Case and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
